After reading this story, I was a little reminded of Anne McCaffrey’s “The Ship Who Sang”. I find the mode of transportation in “Binti” super interesting…and as you guys touched on, it wasn’t really explored.

I recently came across a novella that deals with a living ship that I’d like to recommend (caveat, I haven’t read it yet). “The Tea Master and the Detective” is written by Aliette de Bodard, who has received some recognition (Nebula awards, among others) in the sci fi world for previous works.
